I bought a ShoBud Maverick knowing that it would be limiting - but since I am new to playing a steel, I figured that it would take a while to get to the point that I would miss the other 3 knee levers - Well, I am fast approaching that point. I know that there were threads on the forum on this subject but they are a couple years old. Is there anyone out there that could add levers to my maverick - or a kit that I could install? Sad

Just wondering before I start looking to buy a steel with more knee levers.

thanks

Look to buy a new steel... or a better used one.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

Don't bother. Get a better steel.

Agreed. For what it would cost to hotrod your Maverick, you could get a good used S-10 with 4 or 5 knees.
It's possible that later on you'll want that Sho-Bud tone with a full complement of knees. At which point you might want to do it, but economically it makes no sense.

Actually I have added 3 knees to a Maverick and remember thinking that I wished that I had never consented to doing that as it was quite a job. That being said, if you simply added a knee that raised the E's and changed the exiting knee lever to lower the 4th string instead of the 2nd you would greatly expand the functionality of your current guitar and it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
