What is it that makes us have the desire to have multiple guitars / instruments ? I have a 1937 Gibson...a few battle scars but sounds and plays great. I also have a Rogue RLS-1. I know that there is nothing out there in my budget in the same league as the old Gibson, but now I'm having an urge to buy the Ash Rondo six string with the P-90 pickup currently running on Ebay. I understand multiple steels for different tunings, but currently I only playing C6. I have the same thing with banjos...the count there is up to 4 now, although a couple of them were rescues from pawn shops, etc., kind of like seeing the stray puppy that needs a home. I don't know how many acoustic guitars are lurking around the place. Is there some kind of therapy for this??? I'm running out of places to put instruments! |

I threw out my dining room table & chairs, a couch, and other useless furniture long ago.....can't wail away on an ottoman so what good is it?........now I have one couch and a coffee table that folds out to a table that will seat 4/5.....and some folding chairs......I am free from the slavery of furniture in order to house my guitars......
And, walls are your friend......do you know how many instruments you can hang on walls????.......I don't need photos of Aunt Sadie or other relatives who left me out of their will......don't need no fartsy "art" hanging around either..... |

You have several valid points there...thanks for the suggestions. We've already pretty much evacuated what used to be our dining room to have room for frequent jam sessions. Only problem with the walls is that my wife has every available square inch occupied with pictures, native american artifacts, etc. I am blessed with a wife that is also into the music so as long as I don't spend the mortgage payment is pretty much ok with my instrument cravings. |

I can currently sit on the edge of my bed, look left & right, & count 21 stringed instruments in their cases.
I don't dare turn around!
Whatever the illness, I'm in critical condition. ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) |

If I had as many Benoit guitars as Howard does I would have no need of art - rather have a resonator up then a dumb picture anyways... |

I'm at 14 on lap steels,a Fender Blues JR, Silverface Vibro Champ, Fender Tele. The only cure I have found is no disposable income Despite the quote I have in my signature, my wife is pretty cool about it since I started playing out. _________________ "Don't be mad honey, but I bought another one" |

There has been literally millions of years of genetic selection pressure to develop animals that hoard enough necessities to get through hard times. Females of any species choose mates who they believe will supply enough food, shelter and protection for her to raise her cubs to fruition. So the moral of the story is, if you want to "make it" with the chicks, just show her your stash:
I'll let you know how it works out. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I've been accused of being a "collector" of instruments for my mere couple of dozen.... but I just went out to my workshop and counted 18 saws of varying descriptions and uses, so really, we're just a bunch of players who are very well equipped with tools. Ya, tools, right? _________________ David K |

Here are some pics from a couple of years ago, some of my gear. Four of these guitars are gone now, but I think I've added five others, or is it six? I haven't counted them lately. Recently added a '66 Emmons bolt-on to my family. Also a mint '74 Fender Deluxe 8. I also have some pretty cool amps: blackface Vibrolux Rev, narrow panel tweed Deluxe, Steel King, 112, etc. I've always loved old guitars and amps!
