Someone has offered to sell me their Nashville 1000 for $300... It is in very good condition. Its tempting because it sounds like a good deal to me, but Im wondering if it is actually a good amp for steel guitar. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
Thanks a lot,
Leo |

The Nashville 1000 was designed for steel guitar. That is a very good price for one in good condition. I wouldn't hesitate to grab it. |

The 1000 is a great amp, but you have to have a good back to handle it. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

You'll need a hand truck. After you get it concider the Chip Mod. Those OPA2134PA chips take that amp to another level. IMO |

Great amp for many. I personally never got QUITE the sound I like from it. At that price, I'd still jump on it if I didn't have three solid states (an Evans and 2 Peaveys) and a Twin _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Leo, They are great amps. I own two of them. When I had the Tri-Cities steel guitar show in Bristol in 2004, one of Nashville's finest called me and asked me if I had a Nashville 1000 that he could use at the show. |

Do it! I love mine. I also recommend the chip mod. It smokes my Session 500 since it does have the chip mod. |

They're a nice amp with tons of power, but they lack real bottom end (for my tastes, anyway). As with a lot of previous Peavey steel amps, I suspect the bass response has been substantially reduced so you won't damage the speaker. |

Great amp for steel. My Session 500 has much better bass and clearer reverb, BUT the 500 is much heavier than the 1000.
Thanx,
Jim |
