What gauges do you Superior owners use on your gtrs? The guitar came with a standard bluegrass dobro set,but I tune to C high bass tuning which is the bg dobro tuning a fifth lower.I`d like to try a set with a little more string tension without damaging the instrument.
Any suggestions?

Altho, I couldn't quite figure out your meaning, Dobro is GBDGBD, and a Fifth lower would be DF#ADF#A, But The gauges I'm giving you is for CEGCEG which is a 7th lower, increase gauge 2thous. for each whole tone increase...
you are going to need to buy individuals and experiment, I don't know how supieriors hold up to high tension, but I would star with, D'Addario's Phospher Bronzes, get em at www.FQMS.com.....60w,56w,49w,46w,34w,24p or a 26w.you lose a bit of tone with wounds but you can't get them heavy enough for your needs, perhaps you should use a C6 with a low bass C ?
good luck.

Thanks for the info Mikey!
However;C is 7 halfsteps down from G but the interval is a perfect 5th.A 5th up would be D.

I play Weissenborns & found a pedal steel gauge chart here that gave me a good start. You do need to be careful though, tension is a factor. These are for nickel-wound strings & pedal steel scale. If in doubt for a string, use the lower gauge. In fact, I started a whole step lower that the gauges specified. D'Addario now has phospher bronze up to .070, but they're not cheap. Here's the URL:
