I have been thinking about asking you when you would highlight the steel player but I cannot ID the singer so I'll wait a bit. A lot of us oldtimers here on the Forum will know this trademark sound !!

I'd say George Morgan singing, but I don't know who the non-pedal player could be.

I Think George Morgan had the original but Don Davis played the C6th version on that. This is more like Mr Ting A Ling. |

I admit this is tough - don't be fooled by the sound on the clip, the steel player's future sound was totally different from what you can hear here.

Eddy Kirk with Speedy West. Probaly Billy Liebert on Accordian and Harold Hensley on Fiddle. Also produced by Cliffie Stone. I'm sure Speedy was asked to play the Roy Wiggins style ! _________________ Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, 1992 |

Yes, it is a very early Speedy West track, with Eddie Kirk doing the vocals. Hard to imagine Speedy's later style from this one....
