I already got a review on our new SS HAWAIIAN from the great Gary Morse that plays with Dwight Yoakum. Gary got to play my steel and I am honored he reviewed it. Here is the link for those interested.

Also if you haven't visited the site and signed the guest book yet, I would indeed be honored.

Please don't get me wrong; I'm not in the sales business or am I trying to corner the market on the Hawaiian steel. We just made this site for all to see something I am very proud of and folks can get info on exactly how we built this steel guitar;>it is for your enjoyment only. But I didn't think it was fair for just me and Archie to have this steel, so we did make it avaliable for those considering a new custom steel.

Thanks Ricky, I'll definately keep an eye out for that one, probably see it in Deep South {Record store} and grab a copy when it's out.
Definately a hot band and I'll never forget that night you played with Dale in St. Kilda...put some Texas in my heart that night. Was the SS HAWAIIAN with you when you came out last year, I didn't get a chance to see you after the show as someone stepped on my foot..and it was the one with the newly treated ingrown toenail. Got me second song from the end of the show, suffic e to say I had to hotfoot it out of there!

Ricky, was it while restoring the SS Hawaiian that you had an allergic reaction to the wood dust during the sanding process? |

Ricky, when I went to art school {a topic in itself, nuff said} we were given a fat book, printed on A4 paper.
A safety manual basically, with lots of safety tips on woods, chemicals, solvents, etc.
A lot of artists in the past died or got very sick as they got older from all the materials they used without safety gear.
I had a photgraphy lecturer who was taught in the 1960's that to find out what was in the chemical trays {fixer or developing solution}, they'd dip their finger in and taste it.
He still did it, habit I suppose but he discouraged us from doing the same.
His lecturer didn't make it through his forties.
My Dad was a plasterer for almost 40 of his near 60 years and hardly ever wore protective gear in his early days.
Now he has some mystery lung problems and I wonder if it goes back to the old days, pre-masks.
I think you've made the smart decision on that topic.

Hey guys, I saw Ricky play in London with Dale last night and, believe me, the SS Hawaiian has a GREAT sound (helped of course by Ricky's great playing).
I really enjoyed the gig Ricky, hope the recordings all came out as you hoped so everyone else can hear how good the band sounded. |

Hey Matt thanks alot pal. I got to hear the Live Recording back from those two shows and I will have to say(I know this sounds egotistical)>That was my best playing "Ever"; on any recording I have ever done. We all are so happy with the results of everything from the band and I was very happy with the SS HAWAIIAN also. I played an all new tuning that night on my new steel. I just thought of it on the plane flight over to London and pulled it out of the overhead bin and strung it up that way. I felt like I could record old country; western swing; and honky tonk with that tuning, and I was very pleased with the outcome.
Joe; I will be at every gig with Dale when you are in Austin and the SS HAWAIIAN is always with me pal.
Here are the dates.

Ricky, I'm also going to try to get to Austin in September. Which of the clubs that you're playing do you think I ought to try to get to?
Joe, I'm originally from Toluca, Illinois. Ever heard of it? |

Doesn't sound egotistical to me Ricky. You were definitely flying the night I saw you (2nd night) & I could tell from your face & watching Dale that you were both really enjoying it. Looking forward to the album. |
