It was so great to hear Bud Isaacs play at the SWSGA Convention. He and his wife of 41years, Geri inspired us with a great performance. Bud is known for the first recording of a song with pedal steel. It was "Slowly". This was the first time he has played since 1997 when he had a stroke, but he is doing better, and we hope he plays again for us in Dallas.

For their last number, they sang Happy Trails together - I walked up to the stage to play with Jim Cohen with tears in my eyes. Very moving _________________ Christopher Woitach

Bud is my hero too - and a very funny guy - love his stories.
He played for the first time in many many years - Geri said since a strok in '97 he smiled most of the time once he got started - he told me later that he had nerves (his words) and I said WHY - he gave me that smile and said, "well theres some good steel players here listenin" - which is very funny comin from Bud
He and Geri told some stories and Geri gave me a hug afterwards and said that they both enjoyed it and being with friends. I think he has made 9 out of 10 of out shows and was ill a few years ago and missed one - he is looking better and better.

I wanted to express appreciation to the board of the SWSGA for giving time to Bud Isaacs, and recognizing his contribution to steel guitar history. It is very important to remember how we came to have such a beautiful, challenging and complex instrument. Just makes you wonder what is coming next. _________________ Zum Steel, Little Walter Amp, Benado Steel Dream

Gotta love the two-pedal steel, too - one of em's the "Slowly" pedal, the other must be for that newfangled stuff. |

Bud told me that one was the Slowly pedal and the other one was a spare.
He smiled that Bud smile and said "there was a bunch of boys on the show that have a bunch of bad luck - they have about 8 or 9 spares .... and not ONE of um played Slowly"
He still has lots of one liners.

Bud has been an inspiration to us all....what a great guy he is! And his wife Geri is right there with him all the way. Several years ago the SWSGA gave him a lifetime achievement and membership award. I am so much richer to be his friend.
