I've always been mainly a regular guitar player. The Hercos are definitely the easiest thumb picks to transition into from guitar, since it's shaped just like a guitar pick. I play just using my fingernails. Played classical guitar in college and it's a hard habit to break.

Koeffer uses just a thumb pick. One of the benefits of this is that when he chimes, he uses fingertips rather than knuckles, and pick between the saddle and the chime point rather than the nut and the chime point. He is amazingly accurate at this. He frequently uses the presposerously high "5th fret" harmonic.

One of my favorite players, for sure. Certainly one of the most original non-pedal stylists.
