At this moment... an 8 or 10 string www.cruztonesteel.com
They have a nice and unique inherant sound that is easily varied with the PU's that can be installed.

Black lacquer/MOP G2 D10 9+9. Why? Because I think that is my idea of the perfect pedal steel guitar and I want one!

You can place the order anytime you're ready Exclamation Winking Laughing

Right now, a Clinesmith D10 pedal steel - setup as close to modern as practicable to the Bigsby-style mechanics. For the really classic 50s country music of Carl Smith, Jimmy Dickens, Ray Price, Webb Pierce, and so on. That sound is just there, and each one is a piece of playable art as far as I'm concerned.

Lemme know when you're ready to whip the wallet out. Smile

A Williams U12, everytime. The one I have is a great guitar and fits me perfectly. I say Williams, because Bill makes one of the best steels that you can purchase. I've always has U12's, except for a U14, which was my first steel. Larry

Either a Blue lacquer Show Pro, with 9p/9k (maybe 10k)or a Mullen G2 with the polished chrome looking mica with the same configuration.

Steel guitars are one of the last things we can buy made in America! I'll take anything lightweight, E9 neck, preferably set up Day pedals( or at least configurable) and affordable. For my money, wud go with a Simmons!

I would go from a Double neck to a Single neck to start with, to simplify my life and backache and my sooth my narrow mindedness...So many beautiful instrument's out there i can't think of one any better than the other, probably why i'm stuck with old crusty.

I would want an Infinity Made by Frank Carter. It has the best tone of any guitar i ever heard. It has every part polished amd is maticousely (sp) been built. His newely designer changer is something to behold . Ask anyone who has one and they will agree with me.

That would be my choice too. Only I'd want it with a Mark Giles "blue darlin'" lacquer cabinet with mother of pearl inlay.

Very Happy

Ok, I will be the first to ask for an Emmons PP. Why, in your face, kick butt, go for the gusto, rip your head off sound.

Think of it this way, a Telecaster vs every tele copy. The copies sound close to a tele but they are missing that little edge and presence and beef that makes the music come alive when you play it.

This all depends on who and where you play. At home or at church or on the back porch, not a big deal. But if you are playing in a band, in a club situation and they "play with emotion" (ie volume) a PP will have a better chance of "cutting" through.

Do I like other brands, YES I DO, Zums, Justice, Ritt's, Williams, Mullen, and on and on, I love that we all have choices.

But since I am hopefully getting my new guitar soon Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy I will go for my choice, PP.

Thanks for thinking of me

I'd order a loaded D-10 Rittenberry, cuz they're fabulous guitars with great service and a great sound. In a split case, cuz I'm old and weak.

Oh, wait! I already ordered it. Does this mean you're willing to foot the bill?

Man, If you paid for my next pedal steel, I could see an old Sho-Bud in my practice corner; something from the Pro series, like a Super Pro! Ralph Mooney and Sonny Curtis are among my favorite players, they both played Sho-Bud and I love that sound. And that look of those Sho-Buds to me is just honky-tonk perfection. Black sounds best, but any color would do. That's somethin I would keep as a home/studio player and load into a venue for special occasions. Like the VFW gig on friday night, where nobody's going to barf up beer and tomatos on it, except me! Mr. Green
