I've just picked up a cheap "Commodore" copy of a two-pickup Fender lap steel (Champ? Studio Deluxe?). One of the pickups has been replaced by a Seymour Duncan. The little thumbwheel under the bridge cover I think should balance between the pickups, but this is wired to be the volume control of one pickup, while the volume knob controls the other. Anybody know how to re-wire it as it should be? Or is their any advantage in leaving it as it is? Thanks.

Seymour Duncan has a Stringmaster schematic on his web site which should help in figuring out how this should be wired.
