Last night when I was tuning my Sho-Bud, I noticed that there was free play in some of the tuning pegs. They would turn approx. 1/8" before the gear would turn. I tightened the screw on the top and that seemed to help. My questions is how much should I tighten these screws? I just went "finger tight" to avoid stripping the threads.

Tighten them "sufficiently". That is...as much as you can without making the tuner too hard to turn. Use a small screwdriver and proceed with caution, checking every 1/8 turn to see how tight the tuner is getting. If you tighten too much, you'll hardly be able to turn the tuner!

Re-check them a couple of times a year, or when you're changing strings, and remember to oil the tuners, too! Smile
