I had a call from Haywood about his show yesterday. Because of the expense involved he had to cut it down to one day.
I will be promoting his show to our club members and urge all that can, to go and support the show.
Admission will be $10. |

I just got off the phone with my friend Haywood Henson and I will also be coming and playing at the Jam. This should be a great show and only $10.00 admission is a super deal as most shows are a lot more. I hope to see many of you there.

I hope the jam went well and there was a good turnout. I didn't get a chance to get down as I was tied up recording most of yesterday. |

BOY WHAT A SHOW!
The steel players, and the band was "right on"
Billy Harlan and Royce Morgan did a number together. Great job guys
Billy and Royce put Jim Reeves where he is today. LOL
My favorite set was when Fred Thompson and Royce Morgan did "NINE POUND HAMMER"
If you missed this you missed a great show

In a word, WOW. You fellas over ther around Lakeland sure know how to put on a show. First time for me, and you throw Joe W. right at us. There may be some one better, BUT where, it was fantastic.
Well down to business, our 7th annual jam is coming up on FEB. 16th 2012 here in Palmetto. It is not a benefit, but it is a tribute to one of the greatest ladies in the state, if not the nation. She has supported every effort we have put forth to entertain
the folks in this part of the country. We have had Jack Dougherty, Part of the Brandell Family, John King, and numerous others in the past. Please accept our invitation to join us for a great lunch and a great time, and bring as many others as possible.
BTW, the ladies name is Dolores Mahan, she is 93 years young, and loves our steel music. Up until last week, when she had a stroke. She attended everything that she could, but now is in rehab. WE will record what ever we do and give her the disc of the` proceedings. Help us out if you can.
Don't forget, chili lunch for performers and spouses?

Danny, thanks for the kind words. LOVE being on a show with Royce and his THUMB. Does anything sound better than a Fender amp and an Echoplex?
It was fun for me after I got my "A" pedal fixed, but SO frustrating before.
Phil, I'm going to try to be there if I'm not booked on that date. LOVE chili! _________________ The difference between a musician and a savings bond is eventually the bond will mature and earn money. |

What a great time we had at the Florida Steel Jam in Auburndale last Friday. There was some fine steel picking, coming from all the players on the show. Joe Wright put on another of his 'Entertainer of the Year' category shows. His alter-ego, Theawfulest, was there, of course, in all his glory. Joe's playing is always world-class, but I particularly enjoyed his soulful version of "Sing Me Back Home".
The audience was quite responsive - and it was a full house for the entire day. The back-up band and the Friday Night Jamboree band played very well.
Thanks, Haywood and Larry, for letting me be a part of the show. I had a blast playing my little steel guitar set, and then I thoroughly enjoyed playing bass behind Joe and all the other steelers.
I hope to be back in Auburndale in February 2013 for the next Florida Steel Jam.
