Keeping in mind there are differences even among D10's of the same brand, how would you say the sound of an Emmons D12 compares with an Emmons D10?

That is, for those of you that have owned and/or played both. P/P's of course.

I've played a couple D-12 Emmons PPs, and they sounded great to my ears. I guess I just don't have the superhuman hearing that some of us do to be able to tell the subtle differences between something like a D10 and a D12 string other than just the lower notes on E9. Oh Well

IMHO....as a D12 player myself, I feel that having more strings is fine, but if you can't add raises or lowers on them, then you're only using a small percent of their potential. That's my one potential problem (besides the weight) of a D12 PP. YMMV

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Jim Palenscar has at least one D12 PP in his shop.

I would say there are tone differences between a PP D-10 and a PP S-12 in a direct comparisons with out amp adjustments.
But if you play it for a while, get used to it and fiddle with the amp enough you will eventually sound like your self on any guitar.
Comparing PPs to PPs that is.

So what are the tone differences? That is my question.
I realize amp settings etc. are adjustable.

FWIW, I'm comparing double neck 12's to double neck 10's Emmons push pulls.

The problem with the question is... that if you lined up a doz PP D-12s and a doz D-10s they would all sound somewhat different.
Yet they would all have an inherent PP tone
I have never owned or played D-12 PPs.
I just own and have played D-10s and U-12s

b0b, please close this topic. Someone opened another one a couple hours after I posted this one. No use in 2 of them running at the same time.

Anyway, I am looking for specific characteristic differences between the 2 and I can see this one is going to turn into another pointless "tone is in the hands" thread.

Thanks Rick for addressing the question directly.

The problem is actually finding someone who owns both. I don't think the comparison can be made if they only casually played someone else's D12 (or D10). To make that kind of comparison would require having played both a fair amount of time in various situations. Would be interesting though.
