I used to listen to some old recordings of my Uncle Douglas Hamilton sing this George Jones Song when Bo was playing guitar in his band back when I’m not sure if they even had electric lights. 
I tried to find it in storage but I couldn’t, I know it’s there but where?
Anyway here is a George Jones clip of this one of my favorite GJ songs. Not as good as Doug and Bo’s version but pretty darn good.
I was happy to discover that William Litaker is starting this song this week on his Saturday noon live session.
I peeked at the tab for this session and it also includes some great fill licks for “15 years ago” Looks like a great session coming up this Saturday so I think I would plop down that $5 and join me in some fun.

Thanks Bo. That was good. Who played steel? It is the only album listed on Allmusic.com that left out the credit for the steel player.

Richard that was great wasn't it. Couple of licks and you know it's Mike. He has got to be one of the best ever.
However for the PSG instrument version I think this is just about imposible to beat.

A guy came up to the bandstand after the Band played “Walk Though This World With Me” and said "Now! I didn't watch the movie but wasn't that a song from "Brokeback Mountain".  |

All these versions are beautiful with stellar playing by all. Has anyone heard the version out of Canada with Bob Lucier on it using the talk box?
The band was Eastwind and this also has an incredible instrumental by Bob called The Sizzler that would still challenge most of today's pro's. |

It was!And "Big City" is that Merle song from "Fargo". |

Ray I would love to hear your version of this song. I think it would be great played Hawaiian Style.
You hear a little of the style, hints and possibilities throughout John's instrumental version. Especially during the last part starting after the modulation about 3:10 of the song.

Mike Johnson on Singletary's CD has been on my car player for ages. Not just the playing but the fidelity of the recording and the tightness of the whole band. Tommy White's has a ton of nice fills.
For something a little more out of the ordinary here's a version with a Leslie/steel sound on the intro and outro:

Great song. My favorite version was performed by Carl Jackson & Emmylou Harris. I believe the steel on this version was done by Bruce Bouton (correct me if I'm wrong.) Give it a listen.

Greg your version certainly had an unusual intro but I liked it.
I don't think I have a leslie effect symbol for my midi in tablEdit.
"Brokeback Mountain" was that a sequel of "Deliverance"? |

Stewart, the link you provided is the great Hal Rugg playing a proto type , first mock up of a Sho-Bud Professional on the Wilburn Brothers syndicated tv show. Love Hal and his playing. None better. Tone, touch and taste for days! Sure miss Hal.
Bo, thank you for posting the link to my live version at the International Steel Guitar Convention, I think 2001. My CD had just been released and I thought it a good idea to play songs from it live. I was so nervous about the band not knowing the changes, I hated my performance. I was told the band would learn the recordings per the charts and detailed information I provided, they did not, except for my dear friend Bobby Caldwell. Bobby played the set note for note to the recording. I do think the ideas of what I was trying to relay are there, just rushed and stressful sounding. By the way, John Hughey helped me mix the original CD session at the end of the day. I'm so proud of that. John called me and asked if it would be ok if he recorded a version soon after my CD was released, as we both thought that melody worthy of recording . John's version is most beautiful, as is anything John played. Really miss John and his beautiful pedal steel playing. I listen to Hal and John several times a week on YouTube. Keeps a soul honest and humble. |

Tommy I've always wanted to ask you this.
You pick so fast and it seems you use your thumb and middle finger with you index finger off the strings and you never seem to cross over. So I'm assuming you must be pick blocking and it just appears that you middle finger is not touching the strings.
How about a little insight on your right hand technique? |
