I purchased an ETS (East Texas Steel) pedal steel recently. This is a new guitar designed and built by Larry Agan and Bud Carter. It is built with quality parts, a simple design, right on fit and finish, lightweight, and a very pleasant tone. The guitar has 3 pedals and 5 knee levers. For the price the quality and playability is equal to guitars costing a lot more. The thing that amazes me though, is the outstanding customer service. Kind of a rarity these days. Larry Agan has called me 5 times since my purchase asking if all is OK with the guitar, if there is anything he could do, any adjustments that were needed, was I satisfied with the guitar. His sincere interest in my satisfaction has been refreshing and appreciated.

I have two of them. One red, one black. I really think they are by far the best guitar in this price range. Billy Phelps kept the red one in his booth in St. Louis. Here are some pictures of the black one. Dale.

This looks really good. The underneath of it is a mirror image of my Carter S 10

I bought the red one. Loving my ETS. And Larry Agan has been great to work with, sending me new legs and pedal rods to fit my short legs, and making sure everything was right about the set up. It plays and sounds fantastic. And is so easy to pack and go to gigs.

As for the color, some of the online pictures don't do it justice. It's actually darker, sort of a maroon, with gold-flecks in the paint. I'll try to post some pictures soon.

A great looking guitar! Three questions:

What is the neck made of?
What thickness of aluminum is the deck?
Is it mica or powder coated

Hi,

The neck is made from Maple.

The deck is made of 3/16" 5052 aluminium.

The finish is a Laquer paint.

I am a dealer for the ETS and sold both Don and Tommy theirs. If anyone is interested, just let me know.

Dale, I see you've got 4 pedals on the black one. What kind of pull is on that 4th pedal?

It lowers 3 and 6 to G. I think that is much more usful than the Franklin for me.
