Man, thats classic Brumley. I love the way he played. I listened to the original in C here, though theres also a live version in C#. My favorite part is around 1:15~1:18 (1:12 on the live version) with the high note sustained while the lower harmony moves up and down chromatically.
If your G lever lowers a full tone you can end on 5 without the F lever, but I think Tom may have lowered 6 a half (on a pedal maybe?). Im probably wrong, its happened here before.

Clete, thanks for posting those links. Your right about the movement around a sustaining note. This is the first one that grabbed my attention (0:12) on the live version. Probably many ways to play it, here's a couple. Shades of "Together Again" I think. I love Toms playing, and that "Bakersfield Sound".
