Wow, super nice. Love his voicings and tone! The guitar player is no slouch either. Who are the other players? _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

I hope he takes note of our appreciation of his music. I don't think I've ever heard a better steel guitar tone. |

They look like bowling shoes to me. I'll have to give them a try. My wife hates the skateboard shoes that I use for playing.
Nice post Joe. That guy can really play. |

That was a good find, thanks for posting.
Whats he playing through? A fireplace?
Was that a tribotone black bar he was using?
I dont understand that music much, well, not at all, but they are all very good musicians.
Gonna buy me some bowling shoes too.. |

Yes, this is definitely one of the best steel tones I've ever heard.
This is what Dan wrote on the forum about his equipment the last time his videos were discussed:
"As for equipment here (we all know that much if not most of tone is in the touch, which again we all wrestle with), I'm happy to share what I'm using that I think makes a difference: plastic finger picks (as opposed to metal), Lace BassBar pick-ups, a tube amp (this is an early 1990s Dual Showman), an Altec 417-8H speaker, and a Sennheiser E609 mic on the speaker."
Regarding the bar maybe it is a Black Phoenix bar?

Boy, this sounds great! Love the jazz feel of this band.
Motivates me to learn some jazz on my pedal steel as well. _________________ Guitars: Rittenberry SD S-10, Gretsch Black Falcon. Effects: Wampler Paisley, Strymon Timeline, Sarno Earth Drive.

I always thought the music of Pat Metheny would sound great on steel guitar in the hands of some one capable. This is great, very well done! _________________ Emmons D-10 P/P 78", Franklin D-10, Zum Encore. Sho-Bud LDG |

I just saw this thread and felt compelled to express my congratulations to all the players in this clip for a job well done.
Dan.....I greatly appreciate your exceptional talent, and open musical mind. Your "mental flow" and musical perception is exceptional.
Next time I'm in your area, I'll hunt you down so I can hear you again.
Well done my friend. |
