My wife and I along with two sons and daughter in laws and two grandsons are all leaving tommorrow for a cruise to the Bahamas. We're leaving on the Carnival Glory out of Norfolk, Va. I'm taking a Strat and a battery powered amp along in case there might be a small jam on shipboard. We'll go to Nassau and Freeport on the trip. I just got some "For Men Only" and dyed my hair. It was supposed to come out "Medium Brown" but I left it on for too long and it's almost black. My wife's been calling me Jose and Pedro and looking at me a little differently. Hmmmm, this might be an interesting trip........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Jerry,
Is this your first cruise? Anywho, regarding the islands, find out if there are any food consumption warnings, they may advise you to drink bottled water only in some ports of call.

Guitar might make a good paddle if those Union Musicians throw you off the ship. Also with the new Hair job they may ask you to show a green card.Hope the passport picture matches One Big Mexican

Jerry, __ been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
My most memorable part was the Atlantis Resort and Spa.
The drive up the driveway to the front entrance is spectacular.
The aquarium is huge. |

Rick is right. I've been there twice and it is beautiful. Our taxi ride from the ship to the resort was an eye opening experience. The people that live there probably don't get to the resort area too often. |

Jerry, keep an eye out for Kathy Lee Gifford - as I recall, she used to shill for this outfit, (Carnival Cruises). |

I was involved in law enforcement in the Bahamas for 5 years in the 1990's - haven't been back since so things may have changed over the years but...I think you will find the resorts and casinos fairly safe and well supervised. However, just a word of caution...once you get off resort grounds, especially if you're walking around not as part of a group, be prepared to be approached pretty aggressively by locals wanting to sell you all sorts of legitimate and sometimes not-so-legit items (i.e. drugs). |

Just got back today and had a great time although there wasn't a steel guitar to be seen or heard in the last week! On board there were a couple of bands which had guitar players which were excellent. The guitarist in the pit orchestra for the shows also did other gigs and spots around the ship and was very impressive. They had a Karaoke thing which used a live band instead of pre-recorded music and he nailed all the parts on a lot of different kinds of music.......
I've been off the ship almost four hours now and still am "wobbling" when I walk, can't seem to get my equalibrium back yet... oh well.
This was a nice experience with my wife, two kids and their spouses and two grandsons so I didn't get to unpack my Strat (except for a half hour one night) so I didn't get to engage in any comedy (Thanks John, glad to see we're still friends .......Here's a shot of me cooling it under a tree in Freeport...JH in Va.
