Hi Alan, I love the Bobby Flores stuff also and I have nearly all of his CDs. You're right about him using different steel players, he actually uses more different steelers than anyone I've ever heard of. And they're all great! Here are the ones I remember off the top of my head: Tommy Detamore, Rick Price Randy Reinhard, Jim Loessberg, Dickie Overby, Herb Steiner, Jerry Blanton...and of course Bobby Flores is a wonderful steel player himself and plays on a few tracks. I've been waiting for him to put out a new CD...must be about due hopefully. Very Happy

Bobby Flores, Justin Trevino, Jake Hooker, Johnny Bush, Curtis Potter, Darrell McCall, and a few more
top singers from that area are good friends and play with each other using the same steel players you just named. They all play together off and on and sing that good Western Style music.
I saw Bobby playing fiddle on one of Justin Trevino's you tube songs. They all do a good job.

Thanks for the information. Paul and Bill, both lists looks like the who's who of the Country and Swing world.

Both Bobby's fiddle work as well as his vocals are so smooth. No wonder I've been so impressed with their playing. They are all at the top of my list.

I agree with all the above comments about Bobby Flores.
I too have most of Bobby Flores CD's. I know of no other like him. He is World Class as a musician and singer. His Band plays Country Music as good as it gets IMO.
Listen to these.

Thank goodness for great singers like Bobby Flores, Jake Hooker, Dottie Jack, Leona Williams, Amber Digby, Curtis Potter, Landon Dodd, Ron Williams, etc., singing with TRULY FANTASTIC STEEL GUITAR on the terrific CLASSIC COUNTRY channel--XM Willies Place! Without satelite radio we wouldn't be able to have that "Cloud 9 Experience"!

I have to second the motion of these vocalist being true country style singers. I'm a transplanted Texan, because the Navy moved me around. I love the Texas sound and, not to hijack the thread, but place a link to another CD of that style.
I recorded this in 2007 and was fortunate to have Papa John, Al Bruno, Joe Caverlee, Ben Brogdon, Tim Atwood, and Barry Becker on it. Mike Headrick also played steel on two tracks along with the great engineering job he did.

He kept throwing away intros that I thought were great, the 4th was the take. This was done 2 months prior to our great loss of Papa John. Such a gentleman.
