Hal is playing an Epiphone Solo Console. These and the Duo Consoles were produced from '39-54.

| Great Video. As usual they misspelled his last name by using a "y". Hal Aloma produced such a sweet tone on that Epiphone. I'm trying to recall the model of that gorgeous Gibson guitar Lani is playing...it had to be the top of the line....L-5 or L-7 ? |

Here's an intrigueing candid photo. I think it is Lani in action. The uke and steel players have just moved up to the mic for some vocal harmony. Could be Hal Aloma with his Epiphone console. Does anyone know of the Ka Hui O Hawaii? The large painting behind the stage has a peacock on the left, and Vs probably symbolize Victory.

The steel player here is Sam Makia (standing to the right of McIntire). Sam was bass player for McIntire before Aloma left the group, then took over as McIntire's steel player, and then finally Sam led the band in that room (the Hawaiian Room of the Lexington Hotel) after McIntire left.
Aloma and Makia were great friends who recorded together frequently (under Aloma's name on Dot Records). I recently wrote about Aloma for my blog and posted an hour of his music - including several duo cuts with Makia.
