I am just curious...
I have started using a 5th pedal on my E9 tuning. Dropping the 10th string 1/2 step, and raising the 5th 1/2 step. This can be used with multiple string combos, in various intervals on the chromatic scale, and yields a very full, almost C6 style 7th Aug b5. Anyone else using it?

I'm a little confused. What's the root?

Root would be on 4 or 8:

P5
1 F# 9th
2 Eb OMIT
3 G# 3rd
4 E Root
5 C Augment
6 G# 3rd
7 F# 9th
8 E Root
9 D 7th
10 Bb b5th

Picking strings 10, 9, 8 & 5 yields an E7th Augment Flat 5th. This will repeat every 2 whole steps I believe

Picking 10,9,8,7,6,5 yields an E7/9-Augment-Flat 5th, also a nice chord.

Strings 10,9 and 5 must always be in the chord.

Another good one is picking up a 13th-b9th on the E9.
Using A as the root, in the 7th position find A13/9:
P1/Flever
1
2
3
4
5 G# 13th
6
7
8 B 9th
9 A Root
10

Then, Flat the 9th by releasing F lever:
P1
1
2
3
4
5 G# 13th
6
7
8 Bb b9th
9 A Root
10
Then resolving in E in your preferred position

If you combine the C pedal with LVL (5 & 10 lower 1/2 step), it's the same change besides the 4th string being raised. Is it really worth putting on its own pedal?

Yes, omitting string 4 and using C pedal/LKV will get the same voicing. I guess it depends on your style, but when playing swing I use the pedal a lot. I like to tap quick between the 1 to 4, or 5 to 1 changes.
