I am pleased and thrilled that Bob Maickle a long time friend has invited me to perform at the PSGA show this coming November. It should be a blast with great players such as Herby Wallace and Joe Wright Russ Hicks Jim Cohen John De Maille Bobbe Seymour and a host of other great talent etc, and I consider it an honor to share the stage with these outstanding performers. I would like to meet you all at the show, Dont miss it
Book your room now, they sell out fast.
Thank you, all of you. My buddy Mike Gross will host the show and if you havent met Mike you are in for a treat he's a wonderful man and he knows his Western Swing History as well.

I am also looking forward to this great show. This is without a doubt one of my very favorite shows. Everything about it is always first class. The band is one of the finest I get to work with and the audience is very aware about what is being played by the various players. I hope to see all my friends there in November. Also, I might add that Chuck's Steak House down the road is one of my favorite places to dine!

Hi Jody,
Do you happen to have any more copies of the HCOA record?
I remember a thread a while ago in which you said you had some. Did I miss out?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Jordan

I am very proud to say that I will emcee the big PSGA weekend again this year. We have some wonderful names appearing including some enshrined in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. I also have to echo Herby's words that our back-up musicians are fantastic and they don't come much better no matter how far and wide you can search. Come join us!

I have to agree with Herby W about this show always being first class. And I must say this show always brings out the best in Herby.
This show has the best overall sound of any I've attended thanks to our good friend Jeff De Maio.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the PSGA is the oldest formal steel guitar association in the world with the second longest running steel show being predated by Scotty's ISGC by only one year. Am I right? At any rate, it's no wonder they get it right.

Hi Merle
I have heard many nice things about you and your fine playing. Yes the PSGA is the first
of its kind other than DeWitt Scotts ISGC.

I look forward to meeting and hearing you play one day.

Best to you

Jody

Jody... I was delighted to hear you could do the show this year. I heard you play at Scotty's last year and knowing you have a sence of humor, I've got to tell you I thought your playing was quite musty. MUST HEAR YOU PLAY SOME MORE!!!!
It will be a pleasure to meet you in Nov.

Rick.. Let's try to hook up at the show. I always like to meet other steelers.

Not that this super event needs another bump but I have to echo the words of praise for Jeff DeMaio. Jeff is really the heart and soul of the set-up, audio, design and the talent. On top of all that I am thrilled that Jeff and his band Gunsmoke will be on our bill this year. That alone is worth the admission, room and air fare. I know that we have lots of super talent also but Jeff and Gunsmoke are dynamite. Their latest CD has been on my "Swingin' West" top 10 for months. I also would be remiss if I didn't mention the name of our president, Bob Maickel. THERE WOULD BE NO PSGA WITHOUT BOB!!!!!!

Mike, Jody and the rest of the fine group. Thanks for all the kind words, even if Jody still can't spell my last name right. (Heck it's only been 53 years) It's the thought that counts.

Please use this link to our site for current updates for this year's line-up etc.
http://www.psga.org

The postcard announcement is due back from the printer today and will be in the mail tomorrow. If you are not on our mailing list, please send your snail mail addres to my attention via e-mail.

BTW: PSGA was formed in 1973. It was the first world wide organization of it's type, there were a also handful of smaller organizations that eventually ceased to exist.

Again, it's not a one man job. We have a wonderful group of officers and dedicated volunteers who make the show happen each year. This year's presentation will once again be a memorable event. C U there!

Randy and I are certainly looking forward to the weekend and all that will go with it..... visiting Chuck's with Herby for starters, and everything else. Randy has even agreed to practice real hard every day on our new CD, 'A Little R&R', so that he will have a chance, small as it may be, of keeping up with me on our set. Laney wont be there to cramp my style, so I'll be 'Hot to Trot'.
See Ya'll there,
Russ
