Is there any way to disable the installation of "automatic updates" for XP? I'm temporarily in a motel room with VERY slow internet connections and when I turn my computer off at night it stays on all night installing automatic updates,,,,I think it is so slow that it gets hung up???? or,,, It is a wireless connection and I hate to leave it on any more than is absolutely necessary due to security in a motel. Can't I just delay the updates til I get home,,,probably about a month,,?? |

Go to Start > (Settings >) Control Panel > Automatic Updates. You can change the setting to "Notify me, but don't download or install," so you can download available updates overnight, or when you have a faster connection to the 'net. I do NOT recommend disabling Automatic Windows Update Service. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
