I'll be in the San Francisco area doing a one-nighter on Father's Day and I'm staying until Wednesday. Is there anywhere to go to see some steel-guitarist? Thanks,Marty B.

Billy, we're playing a Cajun Festival around the Antioch area. I've slept too many times to remember the exact name and place and time. I know that's lame but I'm getting old!! I'm working with Wayne Toups and there's suppossed to be lots of other La. based artists there. My wife and I are making a mini-vacation out of it. While I am there I was hoping to go see some local players and try to learn something. If you go to Wayne's website: www.waynetoups.com the exact name/place of the festival should be there. Best regards, Marty B.

Thanks, Marty. I'm not seeing anything with steel on the various schedules around here. There are, however, lots of great steel players working shows around here.(Bobby Black, David Phillips, Joe Goldmark etc, etc) I think its is great that Wayne is carrying a steel player with him these days. I'm a huge fan of (and atempter at) the Cajun style of steel playing. I checked the web site for that festival and you got alot of great, big time Louisiana talent on the line up. Do a search on California Cajun Festival and you'll see what I mean.

Billy, thanks for the names..those are the guys I'm looking for. If anyone knows where these guys might be playing during my stay I'd love to know about it. I want to go watch them when we get finished with "the bridge, the prison, and china town thing." BTW, I apologize for not knowing more about the venue...with 3 kids and a full time job I rely on our road manager to call me weekly and tell me where/when and I show up. Best regards, Marty B.

Well, I'm not from San Francisco, but my band, Amee Chapman and the Big Finish, will be playing in the city at Hotel Utah, on Wed. night 6/22 (if you haven't already left). Starts at 9:00, and this is one gal worth hearing sing (same can be said for my pretty blonde Carter S12). If I don't see ya, have a great time in Frisco!

So you'll be playing the California Cajun Festival, eh? Cool.

I don't see a lot going on that weekend on the Hicks with Sticks calendar. Many people are going to be at the California Bluegrass Association Father's Day in Grass Valley.

I would check out the North Beach Festival in San Francisco if I were you. It should be a beautiful weekend in San Francisco!

Hey folks, I appreciate the info. I'll check with my wife to see when our flight leaves. I think it's late..if so..I'll try to get over to see whoever I can. I'm thinking it's a bad sequence of nights to be looking for a live band, but I want to at least try my luck. My best, Marty B.
