I wanted to let you guys know that I've written a book about me and my dad (Bobby Garrett) thats due to be released on the 29th of this month. Its a non fiction work that took me the better part of 4 years to write and a good part of it is in tribute to my dad and his career. Its supposed to be on sale in all the major book stores coast to coast and Oprahs supposed to get a copy. You never know how things will work out. Anyhow if any of you guys that knew my dad (or not) would like a signed copy just send me an email at rickgarrett@cox-internet.com and I'll get you fixed up. This book is also about learning a lesson of forgiveness and its about Gods grace. Thanks!

To everyone : I have a copy of "Momma's Secret" and it is a very inspiring book. It is done in good taste and chronicles the life and accomplishments of one of the greatest steel players of all time, Bobby Garrett. Read the book to find out what momma's secret was. The book is special to me as Bobby was one of the best friends I've ever had. Thanks Rick for this inspirig account of the life of Bobby Garrett. Jody. |

Jody, thanks so much for your comments on my book. That means so much to me and what means even more is that you're such a special friend to me as you were to my dad. It really does thrill me to know something I wrote touches folks in a special way for the Lord. Very humbling experience to be sure. Nina and I send our love Jody and I'll be in touch soon.
Thanks too for all the folks who have responded via email. I hope you all enjoy my story. May God Bless

Hi Rick,
WOW! what an awesome adventure through your life!!!! The cover is exquisite, too.
Tommy is eager to read Momma's Secret, so I'll probably finish it today. (If he'd just leave me alone and do the yardwork himself!! )

Rick! I just sent you an e-mail regarding all the wonderful aspects of your wonderful book, including the taped interview of Bobby! I highly recommend that everyone get a copy of "Mommas Secret" especially if you followed the careers of such Famous players as Buddy Emmons, Jimmy Day, & the great Bobby Garrett as I have done since day one! I loved Bobby's playing. He didn't copy anyone else's playing and you never knew what kind of lick he was gonna hit next. Great friendly guy. We could all take some personality lessons from him. He was definitally one of the good guys....... Buck Grantham |

I bought a copy from Rick this past Sunday at the ETSGA meeting. The book is well done and in good taste. I'm about 2/3 through the book and can't wait to finish. Thanks, Rick for sharing your life's history as it relates to the great Bobby Garrett. Good luck and great success and may the GOOD LORD keep shining down on you. |

Rick,
I finished your book on Sunday - and was blessed by it in an unexpected way.
Nine years ago, I received a telephone call from Paul, a brother two years younger that I never knew I had. He was conceived when our dad was in the Air Force stationed in England and awaiting base housing before bringing his family over. So Paul's search came all the way from England, and he is now living in Ohio. (My mother died at the age of 32, just 8 years after we were in England.) The first time we took Paul to the family reunion, my step-mother (Daddy's widow) stood up and proudly introduced him as "Bill's son." It was awesome. We are very close. A family full of Southern Baptist embraced him as their own. I was certain that Daddy was looking on with a big smile on his face.
Your perspective represented what Paul went through all those years. Everything may have turned out quite differently had my mother still been living. We will never know. One thing's for certain, we are making up for all those lost times.
As I said previously, I really like the artwork on the cover. I also like how you were able to keep the reader straight with the timeline and characters.
I admire how you handled yourself, your family, and others throughout this ordeal; Likewise, the profound understanding and "forgiveness" of the choices your mother and others made.
I was very touched, Rick – and thank you for making your story available. It will serve as a unique and special gift for everyone who reads it!
Be blessed,
Donna
