Lately, I've been spending a lot of time at my girlfriend's place in Green Bay, WI, pretty much whenever I don't have gigs or other stuff to do. I can't always bring my pedal steel and it's hard not to be able to play.

So about a month ago, my girlfriend started secretly looking for one for me to play at her place. She did tons of research about steel guitars and asked me lots of questions about my favourite guitars, all the while, I was totally unsuspecting and thought she was just humoring me by pretending to be interested in my obsession, since she was asking things that nobody but a steel player would have any interest in at all. She also talked to Jonathan Cullifer a lot to find out about all my preferences in guitars/amps and advice about the different ones she found.

She'd been telling me since she started that she had a surprise for me that she was working on, and that I would love it...she gave me so many hints and I had no idea. Well, when I got to her apartment, she led me to some large objects with a sheet draped over them. I pulled off the sheet and found....

An Emmons Legrande II with 8&7, and a NV400! I'm very happy with it. Thanks to my girlfriend Andrea, (and to Jonathan for finding such a great guitar for me.)

First thought: Man, I've been married 25 years. If I'd known girlfriends could be that nice, I would never have gotten married.

Second thought: Now you have to buy her either a car or a boat or a house...

Brother, you two need to move closer together. I couldn't imagine being away from a woman like that for more than a day.

That is the coolest story Ryan... nice guitar! I don't know much about Emmons, is it an all-pull or a push-pull?

PS. I have heard some interesting comparisons of steel guitars to women... I forget who, but one forum member mentioned that wife even calls his pedal steel "the other woman". Should we be disturbed that YOUR woman bought you ANOTHER woman?

Seriously, a girl like that is marriage material. Listen to what Stu Schulman said and take heed.

Laughing That's funny.

It's an all-pull, with 8 pedals and 7 levers.

Poor little sweetheart has no clue that she just shot herself in the foot.

But seriously, that's a beautiful thing (... and it even comes with an amp!)

Great...now,for the 180 degrees opposite approach...
yesterday I heard of a guy who´d purchased his first
PSG about a year ago and, just as he was beginning
to dig the thing,HIS girlfriend talked him into
selling the steel guitar because SHE wanted...a PC...
man,in 3 years from now that PC´ll be approaching
zero,or even negative,value...absolute madness.McUtsi
