Man, I just heard Bob Lucier for the first time. what a tone monster the guy is. I see he is from the Great White North is that true? A fine player indeed. Just goes to show what you miss sometimes. The one tune

| Bob is indeed a top of the line player. I've enjoyed evrything I've ever heard him play. I really like his verson of Alright I'll Sign The Papers. If you don't have his "Eleven Favorites" CD, you've missed a great one. |

Bob Lucier used to play steel for Tommy Hunter. Tommy Hunter is a well-known Canadian country singer who had a weekly TV show on the CBC television network for many years. In the 1980s the Tommy Hunter Show was also broadcast on The Nashville Network. The only steel I remember seeing Bob play on the show was a Sho-Bud LDG.

Bob lives in Burlington ON, an hour and a half from me.
He got his first break playing with Bill Anderson and the Po' Boys.
Several years and likely many bands later, he became the staff player with the Tommy Hunter Show , a weekly C&W show on CBC. This show was very well received by all of Canada and beyond. Many of us were saddened to see that show being canceled. Bob stayed on til the end. It ran for a total of 27 years on radio and TV. Bob must have been the steeler for at least 10. Bruce Snow can likely tell you more accurately.
After Tommy Hunter, Bob retired from active music work, pursuing another trade.
However, he still puts out the odd recording together with his trusted friend keyboardist Mel Aucoin, in Mel's studio up in Owen Sound, ON.
Nowadays, his steel of choice is the renowned Fulawka. When you listen to songs like Lonesome 77203
that's the guitar he uses.

Great to see a Bob Lucier thread! Bob is a fabulous player with a rich history in steel. He has played on countless Canadian recordings, including many Newfoundland singers. There is an endless well of great licks on these recordings.
I had the chance to watch Bob play in Ontario and here in Newfoundland where he borrowed my Session 400 for the concerts. One day at the house I happened to have his album with Shot Jackson on my turntable when he called me up to borrow my Session. It was a funny coincidence.

| Don't miss his album "11 favorites", it's a true gem. The tone he gets out of his Fulawka on that record is as good as it gets. |

Both of these cd's should be in everybody"s collection. Bob has a way of arranging songs like no other. you will never tire of listening to these arangements.Nerves of steel is another great record he did back in 1975 is also a favorite of Kathy & I , Bob taught me so much about steel guitar & for that i am forever grateful.
Bob Lucier is a living legend, great guy, awesome steeler!
