Who are some good ones to try to see in concert or to purchase music from?

Marty I've been attending some gospel concerts of some great groups, but for the most part the music is all canned.
One group called the Beane Family carries a piano but the rest is canned, great group though.
Even the great Hopper Family is canned music.
Amazingly some of the vocals are even prerecorded.
I think the days of traveling gospel groups carrying a band with them are gone gone gone.

Fred and Marty, I play with Mercy's Bridge Band and we do many concerts with all live music only. Paul Burton, the band leader is committed to keeping it "LIVE" and the people at our concerts always appreciate it. You can check out band out on the internet.

| First off , I will have to say that I don't know any group of national recognition carrying a steel player. Having said that , absolutely no one is as good as The Isaacs who play and sing [upright , rythm,mandolin,fiddle,and banjo] and their harmonies cannot be matched. No pitch correcter required either and no vocal tracking ever !! Fred is right about that.....it is happening right here in Branson and to reveal the names would only serve to further dissillusion you. |

Thanks Albert for the kind words, I agree with some of the other forum members its a shame when you can't find a Live Band in gospel music,and a steel player doen't have a chance in gospel music!check out our web site www.mercysbridgeband.com . The sound quality isn't great but its a full live band.

My favorite national gospel touring bands are the Campbell Brothers and the Lee Boys. They not only 'carry' a steel player, the steel is at the front and center of the band (they might let the singers do their thing for a while).
The Campbell Brothers have two steel players, one of the best pedal steel players out there (Chuck Campbell) as well as one the best non-pedal players (Darick Campbell).
Front and center with the Lee Boys is Roosevelt Collier, a *hot* young steel player. If you saw them, you might conclude that the billing should be "Roosevelt and the Lee Boys".  |

| The group that i last played for had a seven piece band . But the band leader is very sick now and the band has somewhat fell apart . Some of us in the group are trying to regroup at this time .Hopefully in a couple months we will be back at it again . Prayers are needed for us to get it back together . G.P. |

Steve 'Rabbit" Easter played steel for Jeff and Sherry Easter, and I believe at one time David Jackson, who builds Jackson Steel Guitars played steel with Karen Peck and New River.

Its true about Rabbit Easter playing for Jeff and Shari Easter, Scott Saunders played steel (among others ) for the Hinsons. Kingsmen used a steel player, Happy Goodmans etc...but that was several years back. Most Gospel groups use tracks now. sad to say but true
