Of all the NV112's I have heard and all The Evans' I have heard, there is no comparison. Evans all the way. But, if you are looking for light, the NV112 might work for you. But don't expect an Evans sound from the NV112.

Evans is the way to go. I play through a 1983 Evans and a 1999 SE200 Evans. I outfitted each with two custom built matching 1975 15" JBLs built for a Hammond Organ, but not used for about ten years. They work perfectly and have a sound unmatched. My 83 Evans had a JBL E130 and the 99 Evans had a Evans Eclipse. The old speakers were great but are no match for the JBLs I was able to pickup. I have played through 112s and no thanks. Of course I play a D12 which requires more depth from an amplifier especially on the 6th neck, but still there is a noticeable difference on the upper strings.

I solved the weight problem by going to a rack system:

- 2 cabs w/ BW 1501's........and a rack case w/ a Lexicon MX300 FX unit and either:

- a Walker SS combo head...or a Revelation Preamp and Stewart 1.2 power amp

(no piece weighs over 30 lbs........but it takes one extra trip to pack in/out)

I bought a new Evans SE-200 about 5 or 6 years ago (had the Deltalite speaker). I hated it, couldn't get the right sound and no power. Sold it and went back to Peavey and have never looked back.

I would keep the Evans and put a neodymium speaker in it that come with them now. They are light and consistant and the amp is reliable.

Hi Larry if you want light weight I've got what you need AH200 Amp Evans head 200W at 5 lbs and the Speaker cabinets 23 lbs each all the power you will ever need, ask david Hartley he's got one of the setups from me and he loves it.

You should audition some TC Furlong's if you can before you decide. Got rid of Evans, Webbs, Fenders and Peaveys once I did.... put a Rev-Pre or LeMay in front of it and most likely you'll be impressed. They are pricey though.

Everyone has different tastes, pickups, styles, etc. You should audition as many as you are able to see which floats your boat...

Hi Larry, I use an Evans SE-200 and was not pleased with the Deltalite speaker so I exchanged it for a 1501-4 with a Neo magnet.

It has roof shaking power with the 4 olm basket and what I think is great tone. I have had other players say that the tone is great.

It weighs within a pound of the Evans with the Deltalite, 41 lbs. it took several hours to break in the new 1501 but when that was complete, it was worth the time and expense.

And then there is the RE 200. I get inspired to play whenever I walk from my car to the stage with mine. Stop to talk to the guy at the door, then on to the stage. One in each hand! Very Happy Very Happy Don D.

I love the sound of a Peavey when I hear Clyde Mattocks or Buddy Charleton play one but I just can't seem to find that tone when I play one. Must be me.
