We are planning to Jam Sat. How about it Pee Wee. Don Lynch and bill cook and Max from selma, and Jimmy Porter? of Hank Williams band.
My home town, I am picking up a vintage Silvertone amp to play with my National d8, I think it will sound and look good together.

Hey Ernie...it would be nice if you could get Bert Ballard, Leon Champion, and a few more of those Tuscaloosa steelers to come to your jam...and another one that comes to mind is Rick Byrd, a real killer, and Dennis and all of those Crimson Tide Cronies that Laney and I jam with when we go down to see her folks.
Ya'll have a large time and I'll expect a full report if you make it to Haywood's show in Lakeland next week. |

JENNINGS,
Yes there is a particular area you should go. LA. Lower Alabama. Laney is from NA. Northern Alabama. Laney used up all of NA's quotas for the next 88 years. NA can't produce anyone that is even close to Laney. Beautiful, Sweet, Talented,Down to Earth, etc. LA, still has some openings.
Jimmy,
SHO-BUD AMP is doing great. Keep that Baby at home. No moving that jewel around etc. The problem I still have is human error or lack of talent. We are having a BIG JAM on Sunday Feb. 13th at the Hank Williams Museum, 1.00 to 4.00 CST. It is actually an Open House for the Hank Williams Museum Celebrating 6 years. The entertainment is a Steel Guitar Show. We have scheduled Jimmy Porter, one of the original Drifting Cowboys, Don Lynch, Pee Wee Dutton, Roy Gibson, Ricky Cottle, Ernie Cawby, Sammy Brock, Max Williamson,Kenny Lott, Jimmy Ryan, singers Andy Norman and Angie Blackwell. These are all confirmed to date. We had a goodun. Did not know that Mr. Ernie Cawby besides being a good Steel picker, is also an excellent singer. Played and sang some beautiful Gospel Songs.
Russ. We would love to have your friends from NA. join us. They will be in the Heart of "WAR EAGLE" Country but, we are pretty good ole boys and would love for them to come. Of course they are welcome to bring any females that offer any of Laney's Traits. Mr. Cawby can take them back down to Florida for Jennings to test drive. Seriously, They are welcome to come join us and Pick. Have them contact me. Bill |

LA, HUH BILL.. I'LL HAVE TO MEDITATE ON THAT TO MAKE SURE I GET THE RIGHT ONE..AND GET EXPLECIATE DIRECTIONS , DONT WANT TO GO TO WRONG PLACE....NOW U BE GOOD TO LANEY AND RUSS,, RUSS AND I ARE BOTH FROM W.VA. AND I WILL NOT SAY ANY MORE......[HINT].....HAHA.. ALL I CAN ADD IS " LANEY IS AN ANGEL AND SINGS LIKE ONE" JENNINGS..........WHO PLAYS STEEL FOR THE ANGELIC SOUND OF IT......

Mike.
What part of Germany are you in.
I was stationed at Spangdahlem AFB in 66-68.
It is about 12 miles from Bitburg.
What is the exchange rate now, when I was there you could get 4 mark one at the American Express and 3 Mark 98 per dollar on the economy.

Jimmy
We are down at Ramstein Air Base near Kaiserslautern. Right now the Euro costs us about $1.32; which is up about 15% over the past year or so. We don't eat out as often and we do most of our shopping at the BX/PX. We live on the economy so the rent, telephone, utilities are a bit higher; but we sure love being stationed over here. My Father was stationed in Phalsbourg (sp?) France [about 50 miles south of us] back in the late 50s, early 60s.
Take care!

Thanks Mike.
When I was there they had Marks and Phenings for money, It has been so long I forgot how many Phenings it took to make a Mark.
Anyway I enjoyed my time there.
I have been to Ramstein also.
My Wife (of 5 years) loves old antiques, and I told her I use to go to Paris and Amsterdam to see the old building's and she said yea, right. I wonder what she meant by that. HA
Have a great tour and thanks for your service.

Sounds like you guys have a plan. If I were not busy that weekend I would head off down there. Every once and a while I get a paying gig so you can understand why I must take this one. They are few and far between. With all the player you guys have lined up I'm sure you will have a large time. Ernie bring all that gang up to our show on February 6th and let them get prepared for the next weekend. You guys have a great time and enjoy the friendship and music.
