Derek,
BIAB is a software program that you will install onto your computer just as if it were a word processor, spread sheet or any other program. Once installed, then you will make several settings to tune it to your system. Once all of that is done, the fun begins.
You can create backing tracks, with or without melody lines, you can compose melodies with or without backing, the list goes on and on.
The total included features will depend on which version that you ordered.
There is a learning curve as with any new program, but it is fairly quick for most folks.
I'm sure that others will chime in here as well. This is a great forum with lot's of good information, and lot's of folks willing to help.
Good luck! _________________ David Collins

Hi Derek, I just got BIAB 2009.5 and (WOW) what a program.
Band in a Box and RealBand UltraPAK has everything you'll ever need.
I'm just learning some of the great things I can do with it.
If you haven't got 2009 yet, I would suggest you get Ver. 2010
It has a lot more added to it, and I think it cost is the same.
I ordered mine yesterday, and they said it'll ship next week.
I think you can still get the HD free. I like that better than CD's.
Merry Christmas and enjoy it when you get it.
