Some of you may have seen on the news that there was a bus wreck on Sunday morning the 6th. I was the driver in that accident. I was not hurt (except for my pride) and only two passengers had minor injuries. You can google weezer bus crash or weezer bus driver to get more details. Also the band posted info on their web site, www.weezer.com.
I have spent my day today thanking God for his intervention. This wreck came only a few feet from possibly being much worse.

Thank God You are ok, Johnny. From what I gather that was some crash. God wasn't ready for you yet. That's the only thing I can see. I work security at a local hospital in Baton Rouge; early Saturday morning I was in the parking garage on the ramp between the 5th and 6th level; in my patrol truck. as I was coming down the ramp, I hit a spot of black ice and almost slide into the catch fence. Talk about scared, I thought I was going to go through it and fall five floors below. But I got the truck stopped just in time.
Take care, Johnny

Johnny, I'm so glad you're okay. I was in a tour bus wreck last year while on tour with Jewel. It was the band bus and we launched into a ditch. Thankfully it happened between trees, and the bus wedged into the ditch slowing us down. No one was hurt.
What bus company do you drive for? I think I've been on coaches from every company at this point in my career.

Johnny: One of my most vivid steel guitar recollections is your set at Carl Dixon's Atlanta
Extravaganza. You were looking over your shoulder at Bobby Caldwell's efforts in trying to do some of your Chalker licks. That insight into your musical lives was an eyeopener for me. Thank You !!
And thanks for being the driver you are as well !!
Regards, Paul |

Johnny:
I had no idea that you were driving the tour bus for Weezer. I knew about the accident because I live about two miles from that location !! If I'd known you were there I'd have come over with some fresh coffee and a homemade sandwich for you brother.
As you know, I too am all too familiar with the steering wheel of a bus so I can really relate. It was cool to read how you kept the incident from being much worse. Even better, I'm glad you're alright.
God Bless you Brother and stay well. I also enjoyed the stuff you did on Tony Booth's CD which he sent me awhile back.
Your friend,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |
