Does anybody know what the story is on that nattily dressed guy with the beatle haircut who drinks coffee and prances to the music all by himself? He seems like a harmless sideshow but I noticed a lot of people watching him almost as much as the music on stage. 'Course I guess that must mean that I was watching the people watching him and not looking at the music either??
Speaking of the music on stage, I thought the big screens on either side of the stage showing the shots from a camera aimed at the players hands was a superb idea, very educational. I know I watched that almost as much as I was watching the stage.

That's Beatle Bob. He's been a mainstay at the convention for many years now. Somewhat of a distraction, but harmless enough I guess.

I think he needs a girlfriend though....or at least at partner. Whoa!

Beatle Bob is a St. Louis institution and self made local celebrity. His claim to fame around these parts is that one year he went out and supported live music 365 nights in a row. He loves to place himself in highly visible situations to perpetuate his celebrity. Very harmless and really loves music.

I have seen this Beatle Bob for many years, and finaly got to speak with him this year. He came by our booth and said he was a radio dj and that he had promoted each and every booth that was at the St. Louis convention this year on the radio. Seems like a nice guy.

The first time I went to St. Louis I was standing talking to some steel players I knew and he appeared.

I ask, "Who is that?" ----- someone said, "That's Beatle Bob" ----- another one said, "nuff said"

it was 2 days before I was educated on him

If you get a chance to talk with him he is very interesting - I saw him later in St. Louis at another venue and he was out side dancing - I just started talking to him and he told me he had 17 min. before his ride showed up - I looked at my watch and 17 min later a Caddy showed up and the guy yelled, "Bob get in lets go" and he was off like a rock star

nuff said

Beetle Bob has become some what of an icon with his dancing at the International Steel Guitar Convention. And I always find the time to face him and dance right along with him! Its fun and also a crowd pleaser. I was called upon to go the Millennium hotel to be a part of a historice video interview on Bob. It was a strange interview as I was not asked any questions about Bob. The producer simply put the camera on me said start talking. Talk about being put on the spot! I was shocked for just a moment but then I realized that I must give my impression of what I thought of Bob. I must have talked 15 minures or more without any hesitation. Call it experience if you will and I did my best to call upon my memories of Bob over the past 10 years or so. Of course nothing was ever done with added my part to the rest of the people that had done the same thin. This is not unusal either..I have done at 5 other intervies on camera and nothing was ever released to the general public. I have been present when other Steel Guitar pro's were being interviewed and to my knowledge those were never released either.

Bob is a very well educted man. His livelyhood is booking bands across the US and he always sends me a postcard from time to time letting me know where he is and and what is doing. Scotty

I see him at my gigs every year at the New Orleans Jazz fest. He is granted passage behind the barricade, and does his thing while we play. We don`t care. people pay $50.00 to go to a festival, if they want to watch the crowd or Bob instead of the band, not a problem for me.
New Orleans embraces the eccentric and unconventional, and BB qualifies for both.
This year during the fest (I think?) he was at one of our New Orleans club gigs. He spoke with me about the ISGC and Scotty. A bit of a self-promoter, but he loves our band and the steel, and hasn`t worn out his welcome. In New Orleans, we celebrate wierd, and he has plenty of competition.

One year a Investigative Reported said he followed Beatle Bob for several days attempting to find out where his residence is, after Bob gave him the slip several days as he knows the back/front and side door at every venue in town this reporter said he followed Bob to a Dumpster, and supposedly behind the dumpster is where he lived, It turned out to be false but Bob does have a certain celebrity and around St Louis if he shows at your event you are certain your show is a success.

He manages to travel to many citys and events and has shown up in LA Chicago and Nashville in Venues Ive worked for shows and managed to produce credentials and be backstage. The Mystery Lives on.

I noticed this old thread. Beatle Bob! Did anyone ever find out the lowdown on him? He's sure does have a good time at the I.S.G.C.'s for sure. I was digging through some pic's of past show's and found this.
Here's a pic I took back in 2007. I was trying to focus on Buddy Emmons & Bobby Caldwell cracking up about something. And there was Beatle Bob along with them! I was using a little camera on extreme zoom. So it's blurry. I wonder if his name tag say's "Beatle Bob?"

Beatle Bob is awesome. He truly loves music and loves to promote LIVE entertainment and artists. IMO, the world needs more people like Beatle Bob.

Yeah, he's a bit different, but he's own man and a good guy to know. I'll admit, the 1st time I saw BB standing in front of the stage at the ISGC, I thought WOW this guys taking the good stuff, but after getting to know him, I found him to be extremely smart and knowledgable of music.

He and I talk from time to time and it's always a hoot to hear from him.
