Marty Stuart in Charlotte this Fri night

Can't wait ! They are playing at a small dance floor style club/ theater. No seatiing just, standing around hanging out...

I want to touch that Clarence White Telecaster , the number 1 Bender guitar, maybe he will let me borrow it for a year or so if I ask nicely.

Marty will be playing in San Francisco at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in a couple weeks, and I'm really looking forward to that.

I somehow screwed up and the date passed me by when he was at the Napa County Fair in mid-August.

I think Marty has been making the best music of his life in the past few years, even though he is out of the running as a mainstream Nashville "Top 10" recording artist.

Tony, I know you'll enjoy the show! I saw hi here last year, and loved it. He's doing pretty much all bluegrass nowadays though, so I'd say the Tele will be left in Nashville.....but you never know!

Opened for him twice. The man has got extreme vibe. A real legend. He could step on a rattle snake in the middle of a mandolin run and it wouldn't break his stride. He has supreme confidence born out of a lifetime of country road work and recording. He IS Marty Stuart. My hands down #1 absolute favorite country guy. Kenny Vaughan is also an amazing Tele/Acoustic player. Enjoy it Tony.

Yeah, they chew 'em up and spit 'em out down there around a certain age category.

Just off the top of my head, two other guys that will be at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass with their bands next weekend that used to be big in the mainstream, but are now off on the fringe, though still successful: Ricky Skaggs and Rodney Crowell.

Of course Ricky went back to straight ahead bluegrass as opposed to country.

And as far as other really cool guitars with historical significance owned by Marty Stuart: He has the Strat that belonged to Roebuck 'Pop' Staples. Mavis Staples presented it it to Marty. She'll be at Hardly Strictly this year as well, and it sounds like potential for them joining each other on stage. One of my favorite CDs of the year a few years back was Marty's country/gospel recording, "Soul's Chapel."

I'll tell you a story Mark. At one of the shows we opened for Stuart they were in the next dressing room not 3 feet from us. They started practice singing "Somebody Saved Me" from Souls Chappel. It sent shivers up our spines. There intonation was flawless. It was like being given an inspiration five minutes before the show.

Just as Chris stated, all acoustic and worth 10x the price of the ticket.

This hands down was the best show I have attended in recent memory.

And I would add a +1 to " Marty is playing the best music of his life right now "

The venue made it even better, a 250 seat small tight theater with excellent sound and acoustics, we were 4th row center , we could hear those Martins naturally ringing out...

Early on when they first hit the stage it felt like the Beatles were right there in front of us, 10 feet away..

We have been watching his RFD tv show every week and Marty and the band are just great. Connie is on every week and Gary Carter too.

A little story about Marty here. I have a good friend by the name of Ray Murphy who used to live in Tacoma WA and owns the #30 Parsons-White B-Bender. I used to own the #29 B-Bender and we met and became friends partly as a result of the coincidence of two guys getting benders at the same time from the same town. Ray went to see a Johnny Cash show in the 80's when Marty was playing in his band. He had written out a note explaining that he had a b-bender and would love to see the Clarence White original. He gave it to a security guard after the show to give to Marty. A few minutes later Marty walked out with his CW b-bender and asked "are you Ray?" and handed it to him and said "here you go." Ray said he was nearly speechless and of course highly impressed with what a great guy Marty Stuart was.
I always been very envious that he got this opportunity.
