I have been listening to Mike Siler's tunes on XM-13 and there is some very good Pedal Steel work in most of his cuts. Has anyone heard "All Washed Up" or "Playboy"?
I know that "Playboy" has been recorded by a number of artists over the years. I have versions from Wynn Stewart and Herb Peterson/Chris Hillman in my CD collection and I remember seeing a Buck Owens video of it (Buck in his way later years). But the PSG work on the Mike Siler recording is nothing short of awesome in my opinion. It sounds to me like it was done on in a 6-th tuning, but I could be wrong.
If this player is on the Forum, my Hat is off to you!!!! |

I think I have all of Mike's CD's. I know Big Jim Murphy played on some songs and Papa John played on one CD but I'll have to find the cases to see who is on what. |

Mike and I, in past years, have shared an "Exhibitors" table at the Dallas show. My favorite CD of his is Dreams of a Dreamer,,,which has some great Big Jim Murphy steel all over it. I know he is very proud of the gigs he did at Legends and the recordings with Papa John. |

Mike & I co-wrote All Washed Up, and yes thats John Hughey on the cut. We are proud and thankfull that John did the sessions. John and Mike were close friends. They played together at Legends Corner for years. John will truly be missed.

I didn't realize that John Hughey played on some of Mike Siler's recordings. I heard him in an interview with Bill Anderson on XM-10 several years ago. He was a legend |

Hey, Jerry! Been a long time! Just heard Mike and "Sign of a Fool" on Sirius 64 this morning. Is that one you co-wrote?

Mike is a super under-rated talent. I've visited with him at the Dallas show for several years and Always love his singing. He and his wife are both super people too!!! He needs to be on the Tru-Country RFD-TV show too. He'd fit in great with all their fine talent! |
