Back in the 60's Tommy (snuff) Garrett put out these two easy listening albums.

The 50 Guitars of Tommy Garrett.

The 50 Gutars of Tommy Garrett - Return to Paradise -
visit Hawaii. This Album had quite a bit of Steel Guitar in the various tunes. Really good playing !

Any of you older guys remember these albums. They were very well produced with top orchestrations. I think they are still available on the Internet.

My understanding is that it was all Tommy Tedesco playing guitar. I don't know about the steel work. Tommy played pretty much anything with strings (all tuned like a guitar). I've never heard of him playing steel, but I wouldn't doubt that he could, especially if it meant another line on the contract.

I believe that one of the 50 guitarists was our fellow forumite Al Vescovo.

Tuning any fretted string instrument like a guitar was the usual trick to get work.
