I have a Mahony brand Bosstone. Is there a trick to settin the amount of fuzz on these things? I get the same amount of fuzz no matter if I have the attack slightly on, or have it all the way on. I'd like to play "The Star Spangled Banner" with my Bosstone on, but I'm gettin more fuzz than I want. The notes are not clear at all with so much fuzz, especially if I hit two at the same time. I just changed the battery a couple months ago, so I don't think that's the problem. Maybe I ain't using the right effect in the first place. Would a distortion pedal be better for this? Thanks

If you check b0b's Post inquiring about distortion using a Peavey N-112, I explain how to get just as much distortion as suits you particular needs. Three things you need are: 1.(2)-Amplifiers. 2.The BossTone Unit that you already have. 3.A Stereo Volume-Pedal, similar to a Franklin. That's what I have always used, since about 1982!

Back when the string-effect was real popular with the Opry Staff-Band in about ’77, Sonny Burnett showed me how to set the BossTone for that effect. He told me to turn the Attack-Knob all the way ON and then back OFF just about 1/8 turn. Then adjust the Volume or Level to match, when the unit is either ON or OFF.

Yea, John, that's something else I'd like to learn how to do, is get the Fiddle sound. Not so much the string section, just the single string fiddle sound. I heard Bobbe Seymore do it on one of his videos, and it sounded very much like a fiddle. I've turned that video on and set in front of it with my steel, and turned my Bosstone on and turned my reverb up, and highs down, and everything else I could think of,and never could get close to the tone on the video.

I've never messed that much with it either! I don't even change my normal Amp.-Settings! I just turn ON the BossTone and rock on (2) unison-strings and accept what I get! No time in a song to reset an Amp.!
