Probably a dumb question but here goes anyway. I use a podxt pro into a dpc 750 stereo power amp,and two BW cabinets.Sometimes when i practice i just turn on the pod and use headphones and the sound is so clean and the tone is really good. How come when i unplug the headophones and use the amp and speakers it doesn't sound quite as good.is there a way to get the same sound form the amp and speaker that you hear through the headphones?

Lee, are you using the cabinet simulation? If you are turn it off and see if it helps.

The headphones are full-range hi-fi speakers, the BWs are not. If you want it to sound like it does through the headphones, go directly from the POD into a PA or an acoustic amp. I normally wouldn't recommend playing guitar or steel through full-range PA speakers or an acoustic amp. But if you have the sound you want dialed in on your POD through your headphones (possibly with amp and speaker models?), a full-range speaker system will duplicate that better than guitar speakers.

But Tony is also right in a way. Try using the POD with whatever amp model works for you, but don't use a speaker model. Then run it into the BWs and see what you get. The BWs will not be the same as a speaker model in the POD, so you may have to tweak the EQ some, but you should be able to get great sound out of them.

In other words, use a speaker model in the POD, but PA speakers; or use no speaker model in the POD and use the BWs. Using a guitar speaker model in the POD together with real guitar/steel speakers is not such a great idea, although if you play with EQ, you might get something you like. The point is that the headphone response is similar to PA speakers, not guitar/steel speakers.

Congratualations, you have discovered the world of true Hi Fi Sound. See if you can find an ALTEC Lansing 12" 920 or later Altec Pro 912 speaker, likely on Ebay. They were intended for ceiling speaker use, but are quite durable and good sounding. They use a coaxial dome H.F. element so will likely give you a warmer sound than a horn. The speaker is not critical to what box it's in, best in a 2 cubic foot vented box, it'll be good to 55Hz -3dB.

Guitar amps are not HiFi, my favorite amp is the old ALTEC 342 35 watt PA amp. very clean, quick, great sounding, you can tell I am an old ALTEC guy, know the stuff real well. I like the tube amps better than the solid state ones, have a great warm sound.

I am currently using an old Cheapo Bogen 17 watt PA amp into either an ALTEC 417 12 guitar speaker or a Fender Steel King Eminence, which is copy of a JBL D130. It sounds much better than the 100 Watt solid state amp I have been using. I am just learning to play, but my ears are very well trained. I am going through a 342B right now, it'l be up and running sometime next week, just replacing some noisy parts, afterall, it's over 40 years old. Jim

Have you got the DEST setting correct for the type of amp you are plugging into?

thanks for all the replys,my sound is fine through my BW's i was just wondering why it seemed to sound
a little more clear or distinct through the headphones,so i guess it's just the you hear every little detail of the sound through them.
