I just read today's Bobbe's Tips. Hmmm, let's see...no, it's not April 1...

While the whole concept of gauge not mattering is hard to fathom, I have one specific question:

With all strings, and most steels, to date, it has been necessary to use a plain E9th 6th string if one wants to lower that string a whole step. Is the 6th of these new strings wound or plain, or does that "not matter" either?

Oh! My bad! My bad! I was about to step in deep doo-doo when I read Bobbe's email. Like Emily Latella used to say - "Never Mind"!

i know that gauge makes a difference on the 6th strings for reducing cabinet drop, so i don't get this about gauge doesn't matter with King cobra strings, maybe Bobbe can explain it . Very Happy

thanks.

I am sure Bobbe will give us a bit more info here soon.
My lame brain reads His description as saying all the strings are numbered and the composition of the metal or alloy will get the correct tension and pitch regardless of actual gauge.
I am keen to hear a more detailed description.
I use Cobras at the moment and I think they are the best on the market.
How will the new ones compare in price?
Billy
