Well I am going to have coronary by-pass surgery Monday and it occured to me that I had never shared any of my music with my friends on the forum. Who knows what God will decide for me so here is a thing I put together tonight. Hope you enjoy it. I didn't take up steel guitar until 9 years ago. Up until that time I fronted a band and sang lead vocals. My teacher for a week was Jeff Newman back in 2000 and he saved me 10 years of hunting and pecking. This is the first time I have had the nerve to post a video so cut me some slack.

Good job Doug! I'll be looking forward to seeing your next one.
I am going to say that you will breeze through the by-pass surgery and will feel like a new man.....kind'a like having your speed-odometer rolled back, I'm told by some of my friends who have had that type of surgery.

Doug. Very nice. I had bypass surgery a year ago. When you come out you look way worse than you feel, but it's almost painless and after a million x-rays they kick you out and life goes on--better.

| Thanks to you all for the kind comments on this post. I made it through the surgery and am home recouping. Maybe during the next few weeks/months while I have the time I will do some more home videos. |

Welcome back, Doug--sounds great. There's nothing like playing the steel for relaxing therupy--good for the heart (I think).
It looks to me like you do a lot of your picking with the thumb, middle and ring fingers. Am I right about that? That's the way I do most of my three-string chords--it's unusual, but somehow, that's what always felt natural to me.

| Ray, my picking fingers are the thumb, 2nd finger (dominantly) and first finger when using triads. Once in a great while I will use the third finger. This style was drilled into me by Jeff Newman. My guitar setup is straight Emmons. ABC on the floor, LKL raises 4 and 8, LKR lowers 4 and 8, LKV lowers 5 and 10 1/2 step, RKL raises 2nd 1/2 step and lowers 6 a full step, RKR Lowers 2 a full step, and lowers 9 1/2 step.
