I've seen pics of players who have little leather/vinal pouches hanging from the tuners that they keep their picks and bar in. Are they marketed by anyone or are they DIY types of things?

Do a 'search' - there was a recent thread about this.

I just never saw the need to place them in a sack. Mine? I throw them in a box with my tuning wrench, screws, fuses, other bars, extra pullers, pliers, screwdrivers, diagonal cutters, tape, nuts, bolts washers, flat picks, and about 500 other parts.

I did see one fellow protect his bar by putting it in it's own little sleeve (which turned out to be a finger that was cut off an old leather glove).

However, if you like drawstring "pouches", they can be purchased for a couple dollars at most any jewelry store. Smile

Thanks for the tips. I just need something to put em in when I stop playing but still in a convenient place.

Herby Wallace use to sell them at one time. Don't know if he still has any or not. They had a Sierra Logo on the draw string.

Well, it's not a pouch, but I think this is better. Try out one of Dale's Slyde Cars:

You could also buy a bottle of Crown Royal. It has a pretty blue bag you could use.

I use a woven pocket knife holster with a good velcro strap that holds the knife in and also put that in a little drawstring bag just for double protection. I carry it in my player seat in one of the compartments and don,t get any dings or scratches, whatever.
Works great for me. Jack

David Bolin's wife Christine make an awesome pouch for 18.00. You can keep strings, bars and picks in it.

I use a zippered tobacco pouch that I bought at a pipe/cigar store. Perfect.

Years ago, there was someone selling a really nice pouch that hung from the #5 and #6 keys using a couple of slits in the leather or vinyl. It hung down against the end plate. When done, it rolled up nicely. It looked very simple and easy to make.

Here's the one's John mentioned:

I think that I bought mine from BillyCoopersMusic.com. It's been awhile, mine is a brown soft leather that ties at the top. Now it hangs from one of the keys.

Larry Kyte makes a naugahide pouch that has two holes in the flap so it can hang on the tuning keys of your guitar. When you're through playing, the flap folds over and snaps closed. Handy way to keep you bar and picks handy and protected.

After hearing about and seeing what y'all are using, I had an idea to punch a couple of holes in the end of a Shure SM 57 mic pouch, sting some leather shoestrings from an old worn out slipper, and use it to carry my stuff and hang off the tuner ends of my steel when I need them close by but not under foot. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here's mine - I made it out of elk hide. Still have to do some beadwork on it, but you get the idea.

Mike, How about red, white, and black with large squares. That would be cool.

Crown Royal bags for me. Ask the bartender at the next gig if they have any laying around.

I lose and/or break sunglasses at an alarming rate. Sometimes the "sports" style sunglasses come with nice little black drawstring bags, which in my case tend to outlast the glasses that came in them. They are perfect for the job.

Since there seems to be some interest:

These are cool little caddies. They will hold one bullet bar and lots of picks, or two bullet bars. They are soft so as not to damage or nick the bar, padded lightly in case you drop it, and even has a belt clip for carrying it around at shows or in between sets. They have a velcro closure.

I have about a dozen or so in assorted colors, they are $12.00 which includes shipping to the 48 states.

BTW

These are now available on Ebay item # 230340077906 if anyone would rather use paypal. I think the belt clip is ideal for when you are wandering around at a show and trying different guitars etc.
