You wouldn't know it from his photo, but Bob is a good looking guy. And smart too. And a great player.I met Bob last night at a gig in Madison, WI. We (my little honky tonk band, Kristy Larson Trio) were the opening act for Wayne Hancock. It was one of those, "Hey I know who you are, your a forum guy, the one with the green photo."
I was looking forward to hearing Tony Locke playing steel with Wayne but he had Bob along instead. I didn't know it was Bob at first or how good he was, so I was skeptical when I found out Tony wasn't along. It was his second night and he didn't disappoint, a great presence, tone and tasty licks. Ed Biebel was back on guitar and Joel Paterson (who was blowin some amazing swing riffs)on a second guitar. I wish someone had been taping the show, it was one of those that happen when everyone is cooking. So look for Bob in the up coming Wayne Hancock Shows. I think he is along for awhile. A couple more shows and he is going to have that material nailed.
I just wanted say what a pleasure it was to meet and talk with Bob. Definitly check out the shows.

Anyone wondering what happened to Izzy and Tony it's best at this point ignore the rumors and get you info from Wayne or Tony. Life on the road is tough and it has its casualties. I think Wayne is a real standup guy who backs up his players.

Glad to hear it went well, but I'll have to disagree on the good looking claim. Bob is an intellectual and doesn't like to be known for his looks.

Brains and beauty, its a burden he'll have to learn to live with. I sure did enjoy talking to him and hear his thoughts on steels and where he takes his steel music.
