Here's my new pride and joy before and after. I have decals to put on yet, then it will be totally finished.
Now I have 5 knees on this guitar. Plays and sounds like a dream machine to my ears.
Now I'm ready to redo my '67 fingertip for my next project. Yee Haww!! |

That turned out great! I have one that looks more like the before pictures. Did you use the original parts? Also, what is that toggle switch by the changers for? Great job |

Thanx for the kind words guys! And yes, those are all the original parts, with a few racks added into the mix to accomodate LKL for my C6th neck, and replace the two hole pullers that came on that guitar, which were not original to the rack and barrel undercarrage. I wanted my "rack and barrel" to be 100% "rack and barrel".
Awe the toggle switch!! It is a bypass jack for my tuner, so I can keep it completely out of the signal after I tune up. |

James,
A spectacular job! How many man hours do you have in this project? Did you replace any of the old parts, or just cleaned the originals real good? Did you completely disassemble it to get such detail cleaning. Did you use one of those Sham-Wow rags :-) |

The mechanical clean-up looks great, but I sure like that old warm brown finish.
I'd love to have an old R&B Professional myself. I have a R&B s-10 which was my workhorse until I moved up to playing s12. |

Hey Sheriff, yes I completely disassembled this guitar and polished every screw and washer, grover tuner, endplates blah blah by hand. No parts were replace except a couple of two hole pullers/crossrods. So I actually added parts. Ah-Ha!! |

I saw this guitar close up in Dallas last week. It is without a doubt the cleanest R and B professional out there, probably cleaner than when it left the factory. Incredible job, James!! |

Yeah my wife was helping me strip the cabinet and pull out the stain, and I told here to lighten it and stop where she likes it the best. This is where she stopped. |

James,
That is great!
Beautiful work on the old Bud, but what's the deal with waiting to install the decals?
I'm just being nosey.
Cheers!

Clean up your old ones and paint them with a rustoleum paint. That's what I did. |

Something you all need to know. My wife and I stripped the cabinet and prepped it for final finish, but my pal George Piburn AKA Georgeboards, is the brain behind the finish job. He shot the final stages of finish and his hands put the final touch on that finish. Thankyou so much George!! |

Recalling your last Sho-Bud project, it seems that you have a penchant for beautiful blondes.
Will you shoot clear-coat over the decals? |

It looks like very nice work but I too like the original finish better. But it's your guitar and I know your happy.
I too had a 1970-71 Professional with the brown finish with 8+4 and I miss it. One of these days I may find another. |

I'm with ya Russ, I like a tobacco brown, too, but this guitar, the finish had some very serious issues, so it had to go away. |

I own a tabacco brown Professional like in the first photo but I think the refinished version came out pretty sweet. Nice job. |
