I recently found a T8 24 1/2 " in very good condition. Plays great. All electronics work like they should.
The pencil date in the tuner pan cavity is painted over.
I want to change the color back to what was original for that time. Now it is yucky rustoleum brown.
Serial number is 0045. IT has strat shaped tuner buttons, not lollipops.
Pick up guards are black.
It has a 3 pushbutton selector switch.
What colors were happening? I know there has been gloss white, gloss black, butterscotch.
This needs refinishing and will probably not be a museum piece.
I want to flip this one.
Looking for authentic color that would sell easily. |

The white is most popular. I prefer to call it banana puddin' If you are going to do it, do it right. Take your time and it will be worth it. The value will never be the same but it sounds like that ship has already sailed.
Check out several threads here about restorations. There are some real good ones.
Good luck! |

I used to have a couple of links to John Tipka's informative Stringmaster page (including factory color options & wiring schemes) but both links are dead now. Anyone know anything about that? |

I suppose the original color is ok, if you're wanting to reflect the period, but; if you aren't sold completely on originality, then I would suggest that you choose your own favorite color, because; you're the one living with it and you're in charge of any impression you desire to make! I tend to lean more towards creating my own version of what looks best, especially since collecting doesn't interest me. Of course, if I was refurbishing something with someone else in mind, I would follow their wishes! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

Rustoleum brown - are you sure it isn't nicotine patina on original paint? Is the logo decal intact? |
