The name of the hotel in Winchester is the Randolph Inn. They also offer remodeled and updated rooms at what was known as the Overpass Motel at lesser rates than the Randolph. The Randolph Inn is very nice. Check them out at

I'll probably do the Randolph Inn.
I'm glad they remodeled the Overpass, because to me it was always the quintessential cinder-block roadside motel to either have a half-blind drunken-one-night-stand in or the perfect place to commit suicide.

Bill, we're talking about the Randolph Inn in Winchester, Indiana.
High class in Winchester is standard issue everywhere else (i.e., phones in every room, individual ice buckets in each room (not shared like the Overpass), TV's, WI-FI, Pool, Free Continental Breakfast (in separate cellophane wrappers)).
Regarding the Overpass... I'll never forget about five years ago when you spent a couple of hours fixing the air conditioning system for one of the rooms. You had the whole unit in pieces on the ground in the parking lot. I've never seen a hotel guest do anything like that berfore.

I posted this a few years ago (with a few new edits)...
The Randolph Inn is a welcome addition to the festival and the town of Winchester. And I am happy that they fixed up and remodeled the Overpass
While the former owners of the Overpass Motel were very nice people, the maintenance of the facility left much to be desired.
My story (which many of you have heard).
I stayed at the Overpass during the Aloha convention in 2004. The first morning of my stay I go into my bathroom to take a shower. I close the door behind me. I shower. I step out of the shower and reach for the door knob... there's no door knob, only a rusty metal post (waiting to stab someone no doubt. There's nothing like a tetanus shot to put the topper on a vacation weekend). I'm stuck in the bathroom totally wet and naked.
Great... now what am I going to do? Start screaming? Maybe someone will hear me and rescue me. Who? The Williams Twins? Kay Koster?
Luckily I had a tweezers in my shaving kit. I surgically take apart the rusty post and manage to open the door. Don't ask me what I used for a tool-belt. 
I report the problem to the management. No fix during my stay.
I return a year later in 2005 - got the same room - the door knob was still broken.

What did you expect for those "cheap" rates of $60.00+,-breakfast in bed? $60.00 is what we paid in 2006 when Sandy & Pete were still there.(Highway robbery) With the condition of the motel,- rates should have been $19.95 to $29.95. It's a real pleasure to have the Randolph Inn now. What about those tiny showers in the old Overpass? Once you got in, you couldn't turn around. No way Alma & I could get in it together (I mean the bathroom).
