I have been working on Buddy's tab for Wills Point and came across a "v". I am assuming it is a knee lever, because he uses it with the A pedal in one place. Is the "v" lowering of the 5th string 1/2 tone? Thanks!

I would assume a vertical knee lever, but you know what they say about assuming. Smile

The (V) placed above the line designates that the string or strings directly under the (V) are to be picked rather than sustained.

Have fun

Maybe it's a minor (a pedal) over a 5 (V) cord.

Joseph, send the Digital Sustain box to me, with $8.00 return shipping and I will fix it free. Include the power supply with it. I am still thinking the "v" means lowering 5 and 10 1/2 step, with the vertical knee lever.

I was looking at some C6 tab on Buddy's page andI saw what you were talking about. He called it hammering out.

I have Buddy's Half Dozen Shuffles course. On the inside back cover he lists the abbreviations for his E9th levers:

[d] = e's --> f
[e] = e's --> eb
[f] = g# --> f# (6th st)
[g] = d# --> d --> c#
[v] = b's --> a#

Tony, thanks--that is what I needed. In Buddy's Swing book he does not tell what the knees and levers do. I am having a lot of fun with Buddy's arrangement of Wills Point. He does some very interesting and great stuff on the E9th in Wills Point.

Sorry I missed this one, Keith! Yes, the "v" is for vertical lever. Lovering the 5 and 10 a half-tone.

The arrangenent is excellent! Buddy's simply the best... Very Happy

The v is an abbreviation for vertical knee lever.It lowers the B's a half tone. You can see Buddy use it on the youtube video of "I Just Destroyed The World." Obviously, you don't have it on your guitar. I have it and I use it all the time.
