My new CD "Country Convictions" is finished. There's some samples on my web site. As you expect, it's country with plenty of fiddles and steel. Click on the web site icon below. Hope you enjoy! |

Thanks Nick. They're due back from the duplicators tomorrow. I wanted to get it to them last week because I knew when I heard Dicky Saturday night, I'd be wanting to go home and start messing with it. |

Jim,
It's got "Still The Only Girl I Can't Forget" on it. You wanted a fiddle kickoff, so you got it.....with three fiddles. In G of course. |

Thanks to everyone for the nice compliments on the CD and the you tube videos.
To all you people emailing me and asking for tab of the steel parts. I don't have any. I rarely play anything the same way twice anyway.
To answer some other questions: I used BIAB with Real Drums for the drums and most of the piano rhythms. Bass was a Fender Precision or Upright Bass, Rhythm Guitar was a Takamine, or Martin D-28H. Lead Guitar was a Telecaster. Steel is my SD-10 Emmons Legrande through RV-3 then straight into the board. Some Piano parts were played on a Yamaha Keyboard. All the fiddle was my French Head Fiddle that some of you have seen.
I converted the BIAB songs to MIDI files and played them through Power Tracks, synced to my Roland VS-2480 recorder. This allows me to record drums, piano, etc... on separate tracks for mixing later.
Mics used were Audio Technia AT-4033 and AKG C-1000 on vocals and Oktava Ribbon Mic on fiddle. The front end for the mics was a Universal Audio LA-610 mic pre. (The best I have found) Mixing and mastering was done using Dynaudio BM-5 powered monitors. (another preference of mine)
Oh yeah.....BJS bar and about six months old Jagwires on the steel.
I have promised a few local people to teach them the BIAB programing. It's really simple to use. If this goes well. I might consider doing a BIAB seminar at one of the Eastern US steel shows, it there's any interest. If you have enough computer skills to type and send an email, I think I can teach you in an hour, what it would take months to learn from the manuals. Plus some tricks I've learned. I'll post something later if I decide to do this. Another option would be to make a DVD explaining BIAB step by step.........for country pickers. |

Well I gotta tell you, I got mine in the mail yesterday. I couldn't wait to get in the house with it, so I opened it up and put it in the car CD player. Twenty minutes later my wife came out to see whay I hadn't come in the house yet! Rick says this is country music the way he thinks it should be, and I couldn't agree more. The song selections, arrangements and playing are all top drawer. And Rick, you did "I'll Sign The Papers" like it's supposed to be done! My the way, put me down for a BIAB seminar seat. |
