Anyone come up with a "cup" to catch the bar
ie, I switch between Guitar & standup C6 during a song
& want to make getting the bar a little easier..
and faster
thinking bolt-on to a single neck Remington _________________ 'Frenchy' LeBlanc...

I saw Dave Gilmore use a pickup tray that was attached to the mic stand to put his bar on while he switched guitars...don't know where you would get one though! |

If you have a bar made of steel, stick a rare-earth magnet inside your shirt pocket. The magnet will hold your bar securily on the OUTSIDE of your pocket for easy retreival.
If this location is inconvenient, the magnet can be placed at the location of your choosing....... |

If your Bar becomes a magnet it will cause "thumping" when near your pickup, and I'm not sure how it will affect the strings and how they are picked up by your pickup. Forget the Magnet, go with your Cup idea. |

I used to stick my bar between my belt and pants on my left side when I stood up and played steel and lead. It was a Stevens so it worked fine. If you use one of those big heavy things it could end up on the floor I suppose. |

I have one of the units like Steiner has for my pedal steel. For lap steel I use a Shubb/Pearse bar which is normally used for a Dobro but it just lays flat so I just lay it right on the guitar, it can't roll off. I had a small round bar made by Dunlop for lap steel but the tone of the Shubb is better so I started using that.........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

- don't like those leg-mounted ones
- fine if your sitting at the steel
- thinking something easier to hit & pickup while
left hand "in motion"
- I use a regular bullet
...eg, a padded ash-tray _________________ 'Frenchy' LeBlanc...

There's your problem. If you use a double-necked instrument you just leave the bar between the necks. ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

Hang it on a string inside the front of your trousers. You might even get some appreciative winks from the girls. But don't hang the string inside the back of your trousers or the audience will start throwing things. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
