Julian played C6th on his single neck steel. I believe that he played a 12 string most of the time. As I have only played the Fender 400, I am not well versed on the different tunings on the PSG.
How would you tune a 10 string single neck so that you could get part C6th and part E9th on the one neck and still be able to do most of the E9th for the good country stuff?

Julian played a 14-string tuning on his single-neck
that he called F6/9. He lowered it a half-tone to
E6/9 about the time he went from Wright
to Sho-Bud around the mid-70's.

When I was at Sierra, we build Julian's last 14 string steel. First seven strings were E9, bottom seven were E6. Julian called it E96. Great player and direly missed.

Pop on over to the Pedal Steel section and listen to Jody Cameron playing his Rittenberry! He's playing standard E9th, only with a C6th flavor, and that's about as close as you're going to get to traditional C6th on a 10-string.  |

Dave, Julie's 20 string guitar was made by MSA and at one time there was a picture of it on the forum. you might try searching it out.

Correctly me if I am wrong......I believe that Julian was playing that 20 string steel in 75 or 76. I recall being in Tootsie's one night during the old DJ convention when I heard about Julian showcasing in one of the hotel's. One of the top steel players of all time was there and we decided to go up and see Julian. I'll never forget this steel player I was with telling me that Julian was playing stuff on that steel that wasn't even there. It was a big compliment from a very well known player. I think that was my first time seeing Julian so it must have been in 75.
