This brand new CD features 10 great songs from the COUNTRY ROCK era, covering about a ten year span from the late 60’s through the late 70’s. Most of you will recognize songs originally recorded by The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Poco, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Pure Prairie League, and Crosby / Stills & Nash. Care was taken to keep the spirit and feel of the originals, while (hopefully) offering some new and interesting approaches. The influences of Buddy Cage, Rusty Young, Sneaky Pete, and Al Perkins will be obvious. For those who are familiar with my own style, there’s plenty of that, too.

A sub-title for this CD would be “Country Rock Classics on Pedal Steel – Volume one”. If you wonder why I didn’t record a particular song, you may very well see it on the next volume in a few months.

Live studio musicians throughout with a few appropriately added touches like a phased Fender 1000, the Hal Rugg Pedabro, Telecaster with B-Bender, 12 string electric, and some acoustic lead. Appearances also by John Heinrich on sax and Charlie McCoy on the mouth organ.

Here are seven sound samples, and there are more on my site. Click on the title to listen.

** Take It Easy

** Amie

** She's No Angel

** Bad Weather

** Henry

** Ol' 55

** I Don't Need No Doctor

The CD is 17.50 SHIPPED.

Rhythm tracks are available and are also 17.50

International orders are the same price but will be shipped without jewel case. Add 2.00 if you want factory packaging.

Well, alright Mike! I am REALLY enjoying my copy of this new CD. It covers a lot of the tunes I cut my teeth on (having been a Poco-nut in my 'formative years'). I especially like 'Heart of the Night' and 'Bad Weather' but all the selections and arrangements are excellent. Your playing and production are both great, as with all your previous projects. This is a keeper that'll be in rotation in my car for a long time! Smile Smile

Oh Yeah, about St. Louis!

I'll be the 3rd booth on the right after getting off the escalator. Right next to the GFI door.

Gary,

I'm not ruling out a tab book for the CD. If there is enough interest shown, I may just do one.

I know it may look like Jim Cohen is the only one who has commented so far, but most people seem to be leaving their replys on the one in "Steel Players", which is here:

I just received an advance copy of Mike's new CD, and just as I expected, his playing is absolutely incredable, as is every recording Mike has ever produced or played on! Even if you're not one of those guys that's into some of this type of music, you will love Mike's approach and style on these songs. I know very few guys that are even capable of doing things like this, and Mike is one that most definately can, as is demonstrated on this new recording.

If you love hearing steel guitar being played at it finest, then do consider getting Mike's entire collection. Tone to die for, and an unforgetable style most of us can only hope for! This aint no "smoke and mirrors" or some kind of studio magic, stuff, this is FOR REAL!

Carl, I have four different sized tuning wrenches, but I grab yours everytime. Thanks for the comment.

Danny, I am greatly humbled by your response. Thanks you so much for the kind words, which are redoubled when coming from such a magnificient player as yourself.

Mike,

Just got Steels on Wheels along with the Tab book. I have Heart of the Night and a tab book would be great for that too. Both of them are great and I think having these rhythm tracks has helped me improve because I love to practice these songs.

William,

Sorry to say it has not been tabbed. Would you like to be on my mailing list? I'll let you know when any tab is available. Just respond with an email.

Thanks for asking,

Mike H
